02About the program
More than a class on a schedule.
AFJROTC is a citizenship program, not a recruiting program. Cadets study aerospace science and leadership, take on real responsibility inside the corps, and serve their community.
Service
Cadets serve across Hocking County — local parades and memorial ceremonies, food drives, and school events — and log every hour toward their own record of service.
Discipline
From drill formations to uniform inspections, the program builds the personal discipline and attention to detail that follows cadets into college, careers, and adult life.

The corps.
We could not be prouder of these cadets.
Every cadet on this page earned their place. They show up early, hold each other to a standard nobody imposed on them, and carry themselves the same way whether anyone is watching or not.
They represent Logan High School at drill meets and competitions, stand for the colors at ceremonies, and give their weekends to Hocking County — parades, memorials, food drives, and school events that would be smaller without them.
What they build here — discipline, judgment, and the habit of putting the group first — goes with them long after graduation. It is a privilege to work with them.

What families ask.
Is there any military obligation?
No. AFJROTC is a citizenship and leadership program, not a recruiting program. Enrolling carries no obligation to join the armed forces, and most cadets never do. The curriculum is about character, leadership, and civic responsibility.
Who can join?
Any Logan High School student in grades 9 through 12 may enroll. No prior experience is needed and no tryout is required. Cadets join throughout their high school career, though starting earlier gives more room to grow into leadership positions.
What does a cadet actually do?
Cadets study aerospace science and leadership education during the school day. Beyond class, they hold positions of real responsibility inside the corps, take part in drill and physical training, and serve the community through parades, ceremonies, and service projects.
Is a uniform required?
Yes. Cadets wear the Air Force uniform one day each week and for events. Uniforms are issued by the unit at no cost to the family. Cadets are responsible for keeping them clean and serviceable, and for returning them at the end of the year.
How much time does it take outside of class?
That is largely up to the cadet. The class itself is a normal period in the schedule. Optional teams and activities such as drill team, color guard, and competitive teams meet outside school hours, and cadets choose how involved they want to be.
Does it help with college or scholarships?
It can. Cadets build a documented record of leadership positions and service hours that strengthens applications. Completing the program may also qualify a student for advanced standing if they later choose to enter military service, and some scholarship programs recognize AFJROTC participation.
What if my student has a disability or a medical restriction?
Talk to the instructor staff. Activities are adapted so cadets can participate, and accommodations are handled through the same process as any other class at Logan High School.
